The graph below shows the production levels of the main kinds of fuel in the UK between 1981 and 2000. Summarize the formation by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The graph below depicts the levels of production of the most significant types of fuel in the UK over a period from 1981 to 2000. Petroleum rose in the beginning and then dipped, whereas coal fell steadily. Gas remained stable initially, then gradually increased.
Petroleum ,generated in 1981, was only around 86 energy units, but in 3 years it surged to 140 units. This number remained unchanged until 1987. A dip to 100 units of it’s energy produced occurred in 1990. Eventually, this amount returned to 140 units of energy.
The next two main fuels in the UK were coal and natural gas. While the former declined significantly after 2 years and bottomed out at less than 40 million energy units in 1985, the latter fluctuated around this number until 1991. Coal went up a little in 1986 ,but then showed a downward trend. Whereas natural gas escalated gradually over a period from 1991 to 2000 when it reached a peak of 100 energy units.
