These platforms allow young people to stay connected with friends, follow trends, and share their experiences, making them indispensable in their daily lives. Moreover, smartphones serve as a primary source of entertainment, offering games, streaming services, and music apps that cater to their desire for instant gratification. The convenience of accessing information, learning resources, and online communication further contributes to their reliance on these devices. However, I firmly believe that this is a negative development, as the overuse of smartphones has serious consequences for both physical and mental health. For instance, prolonged screen time leads to eye strain, sleep disturbances, and posture problems. Additionally, excessive smartphone use diminishes face-to-face interactions, weakening social bonds and interpersonal skills. On a psychological level, constant exposure to idealized content on social media fosters feelings of inadequacy and lowers self-esteem, particularly among impressionable young users. These negative effects outweigh the benefits of smartphones, highlighting the need for young people to adopt healthier digital habits and find a balance between online and offline activities.
