Some people think technology development decreases crime, while others believe it actually encourages crime. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

People have different views as to how technological advancements affect crime, with some suggesting that they have a positive impact on crime rates. Others, however, claim that they reduce crime. While both sides have valid points, I agree with the latter view.
Critics of the role of technology in crime raise concerns about the emergence of new forms of crime, like cybercrime, facilitated by technological advancements. Specifically, when criminals gain access to sophisticated digital tools such as malware, botnets, and deepfake technology, they often use these resources to carry out elaborate and highly deceptive schemes, allowing them to carry out complex and large-scale operations with relative ease and anonymity. This not only enables hackers to evade traditional law enforcement measures but also exploits the inherent vulnerabilities of interconnected systems by launching coordinated attacks, overwhelming websites and online services with countless bots, and bypassing encryption codes. This development is particularly appealing to tech-savvy individuals looking for quick ways to make money, potentially leading to an increase in the number of people engaging in illegal activities.
Despite the risks associated with cybercrime, in my view, technology can positively influence the crime world. In an era characterized by cutting-edge tools such as AI features, law enforcement is better equipped to predict, prevent, and solve crimes. By harnessing the power of AI tools, governments can predict possible crime scenarios, as predictive AI modes are likely to detect frequent patterns with pinpoint accuracy by analyzing the vast amount of data. This can thereby enhance proactive policing strategies, allocate resources more efficiently, and ultimately reduce crime rates by addressing potential threats before they escalate into actual criminal activity. For example, in a country where such measurements are implemented successfully, crime rates often experience a significant decline due to the early detection systems and swift responses.
In conclusion, while technology can make it easy for individuals to engage in criminal activities, I contend that it can ultimately reduce crime rates by detecting criminal behavior early and responding quickly.
