Space exploration is often the subject of heated discussion among individuals in which some of these people consider it unnecessary due to its considerable budget. However, others believe that investigating space has become crucial for humans to achieve sustainable life. I support the latter view as there might well be a need for Earth’s citizens to migrate to another planet.
Admittedly, researching celestial bodies requires a huge amount of money and other resources, making some members of society doubtful about its effectiveness. When such investments are directed to mostly unknown parts of the universe, there is no guarantee of successful accomplishments. After the failure of the government’s efforts, many individuals are likely to be disappointed. There are still a lot of terrestrial issues that can be tackled by investing relatively less amount of those resources wasted on space, resulting in massive complaints among citizens.
On the other hand, being aware of extraterrestrial living can be seen as beneficial for other groups of people. For one thing, technology, one of the most impactful fields for human development, is often dependent on exploring outer space. To provide essential information within a second at a distance overseas, any device needs the internet which usually works thanks to the satellites traveling across the universe. Without carrying out any experiments outside of Earth humanity would not be able to achieve this modern lifestyle. Since some urgent environmental challenges like air pollution and global warming seem to be unavoidable so knowing about the general condition of planets nearby might be useful for people’s settlement on them in the future.
In conclusion, although the investigation of the universe is seen as useless by some because of its high cost and resourcefulness, continuing to discover more about space can more than offset its spending. Therefore, I would argue that officials need to allocate the required resources to find as much new data about outer life as possible.
