The maps describe how the development in Shalton village was restructured over the century, starting with 1910. Overall, the village has became more residential area with the construction of new houses. Of particular note were the expansion of the residential area and the construction of new buildings such as a cafe, a bank and a supermarket at the expense of a butcher, a grocer and a baker.
In 1910, Shalton village was became more green. There were many trees and large house in the center of the village. School was located in the southwest of the village with along the School Road. Small-scale commercial establishments such as butcher, baker and grocer were located along High Street and School Road, and a post office on London.
By 2010, the village had undergone a complete makeover. Probably the most significant change was the construction of new houses. Butcher made way for supermarket and parking. Cafe was built, which resulted in the disappearance of grocer. While post office remained intact, a house in the top was turned into a bank. In the center of the village all trees were cut down and new houses were built.
