the plans below show the south wing of walton museum in 2008 and 2012

The floor plans show how the south wing of the Wanton museum changed between 2008 and 2012. Overall, this part of the museum had become more visitor-friendly by 2012, with the introduction of a terrace, restaurant, and children’s play area, while maintaining most of its original features.
Prior to the reconstruction, there was a path to the left of the plan, leading to the entrance, next to which was reception. A gallery and shop were positioned below the entrance area, with stairs guiding visitors to the reading room adjacent to the reception. Also, a cloakroom was situated below the reading room.
However, by 2012, the museum had undergone remarkable additions. The entrance converted into a hall, above which is a new terrace, providing visitors with a place to sit. The reception and cloakroom were now in the same place so that the children`s play area could be built in the place previously occupied by the latter room. Additionally, the new restaurant was erected above the reception, while the stairs were replaced with a lift, allowing freer mobility for visitors. One final addition was a self-service cafe and an exhibition room to the right end of the plan.
