The bar chart provides a snapshot of common bedtime activities in the US. The information is broken down into three different age groups and various activities.
The shares of children aged four and five were the highest in reading, accounting for a staggering 70%, followed by one-three-year olds, at roughly 65%, which was slightly higher than older children (6-8), at close to 60%. Additionally, half of those aged 6-8 brushed their teeth, nearly double the figure for the baby group, at 30%, while around 45% of 4-5 year olds was brushing teeth before bedtime.
In stark contrast, although more than 30% of those aged between four to eight engaged in having baths before going to bed, the figure for the youngest age category (1-3) was the highest in the same activity, at 40%. When it comes to watching and eating before bed, 20% of 4-5 year olds watched TV, the same figure for eating among 1-3 year olds.
Overall, there were significant disparities in children`s bedtime routines, with every activity showing different engagement levels. While reading was the most popular activity in all age categories, with more children aged 4-5 engaging in this pastime, watching TV and eating were less common regardless of children`s age.
