The line graph shows how much oil was produced in four parts of the world during a-forty-year period starting in 1960. Units are measured in million barrels per day. Overall, the amount of oil dug in all areas, namely Middle East, Africa, North America and Asia, rose significantly. Of particular note is that only Africa experienced a decline in the process of oil production in the middle of the period, while other regions didn’t.
In 1960, the figure for the oil produced in Middle East stood at 20, being the biggest on the graph. Despite the 5 units growth during the next decade, Middle East was overtaken by Africa where the amount of extracted doubled to reach 30. By 1980, the figure for Africa declined to just above 20, whereas the same figure for Middle East quickly surged to just below 40. However, the amount of oil produced in Middle East and Africa increased remarkably to reach 55 and 40, respectively during the last 20 years.
Although equal amount of oil was extracted in North America and Asia at 5 in 1960, they underwent different growth patterns till the end of the period. The figure for North America showed a five-fold rise, reaching below of 30, while the same index for Asia grew gradually and reached about 12 after 20 years. Between 1980 and 2000, the figure for both countries continued to grow and approximately 32 and impressive 20 units of oil were produced in North America and Asia, correspondingly in the final year.
