The shares of people aged between 45 and 65+ also followed increasing trends. In 2003, 55% of those aged 45-54 used the internet on a daily basis, comparatively higher than the figure for 55-64 age bracket, at 32%, while a mere 2% of 65+ age group accessed the internet. Although all figures had increased by 2006, the growth in the shares of the 55-64 category was more marked, almost doubling to 56%.
Overall, the percentage of people using the internet saw an upward trend, regardless of their age, with people aged 55-64 registering the most pronounced rise. It is also clear that the youngest age groups (16-24 and 25-44) led the chart with highest proportions.
