Overall, it is clear that there will be an upward trend during whole period, particularly students of English languages will increase and become by far the most popular throughout while the number of students in Spanish and Mandarin will show almost similar rising trend and Mandarin will become the second most common language amongst students.
In 2020, 550 mln students who study English were almost twice as many as Spanish learners with 225 mln while Mandarin came third with 100 mln learners.
Over the next 10 years, the number of learners in English, Spanish, Mandarin will rise over the whole period. English learners significantly increased to 700 mln until 2024 and will show slight dip and then quicky recovery to 700 mln again in 2028, maintaining the highest position. The number of Mandarin learners will experience a rise throughout. In the first 6 years, its numbers will reach to 350 mln. Until 2030 this trend will appreciably go up to just under 600 mln. Regarding the quantity of spanish learners that showed a considerable rise with just under 300 mln in 2022 and will show a slight increase with the same figures in 2024. Thereafter, its figures will go up to just under 400 mln spanish learners until 2030.
