Some people think governments should spend money looking for life on other planets, while others think that there are many unsolved problems on earth. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

People have different opinions as to how the government’s money should be spent, with some advocating for searching for alien life. Others, however, claim that governments should fund projects in order to solve long-standing problems in the world. While both sides have valid points, I agree with the latter opinion.
Proponents of looking for extraterrestrial life highlight its benefits associated with unraveling mysteries of the universe. Specifically, when government-funded astronomical operations and observations are carried out regularly in the search for alien life, they often stimulate advancements in science and technology, allowing them to solve the questions that have puzzled both scientists and the general public for decades. This not only enables them to explore the vastness of the universe but also empowers us to find the long-awaited answers to the fundamental questions such as whether we are alone in the cosmos. This curiosity is particularly useful in answering major philosophical questions like, who created us, where and when did it begin, and how did reality come to exist, which prompts deeper reflections on our origin and existence.
Despite the benefits of finding answers to the fundamental questions, in my view, spending money on tackling pressing problems on Earth is more important. In an era characterized by technological advancements, the establishment of AI modes equips governments with the necessary tools to tackle underlying social issues such as inequality, injustice, and poverty. By harnessing the power of AI-driven assistants and bots such as ChatGPT, countries can create tailored solutions to these issues that match the needs of the local area based on its interests, preferences, and future plans, as AI features are likely to have a vast amount of data to analyze and provide the most effective methods. This can thereby introduce new policies and streamline the necessary resources, ensuring that aid and support reach those in need. For example, in a context where communities fail to implement these measures due to the insufficient funding and the lack of resources, such actions can definitely make a huge difference in terms of the living standards and economic stability, ultimately propelling societies toward sustainable growth.
In conclusion, while looking for alien life can unravel the deepest mysteries of the universe, I contend that making a better world by overcoming current global problems is far more significant.
