Some people think it is better to choose friends who always have the same opinions as them. Others believe it is good to have friends who sometimes disagree with them. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

In an era characterized by divisive issues and polarized opinions, people are divided as to whether we should have friends who share the same views as us or if a friendship should involve occasional disagreements. While agreements in friendship help maintain it harmonious, disagreements foster mutual growth. I personally favor a friendship where everything is transparent.
It is true that a friendship tends to last longer when there are no misunderstandings and conflicts between friends. These situations often happen when one does not agree with what their friend is doing. For example, a student choosing a certain major at university amid disagreements with their parents needs support in the form of belief, which can come from their friends. In such a dilemma, the existence of the friend siding with their decision can strengthen the relationship, as they would not feel isolated any more.
Nevertheless, i do not consider a friendship healthy when a truth is hidden just to give a temporary relief to a friend, for it can hinder personal growth. To be specific, it is the best course of action to tell straight when an individual is going in the wrong direction in both personal and professional realms. This is to remind that they should change and make a difference in their life, even when that change seems daunting. This, in turn, leaves a room for improvement after realizing one’s mistakes. For instance, a person who suffers from obesity should be given advice by a friend to make a healthy shift in their lifestyle by taking up sports and having a balanced diet. Although it might make them upset at the beginning, the long-term result would prove such a friendship essential.
In conclusion, agreements in friendship can be helpful in maintaining it strong; however, it is more imperative to oppose whenever needed, since doing so lets a person know where to work on more, affecting their growth positively.
