Some people think that the main benefit of international cooperation is in the protection of the environment, while others believe that businesses mainly benefit. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

There is a heated debate over the main benefit of international collaborations. While some argue that the preservation of the environment is the main positive outcome that arise from these co-operations, others claim they are mostly beneficial for commercial organizations. In my view, comparing these two completely different aspects is illogical, as there are countless multilateral engagements that work for the sake of both environment and economy.
On the one hand, certain international collaborations serve the interests of businesses. A good case in point is WTO, a global organization implemented to ensure freedom and fairness in international trade. Companies from the member states of this institution enjoy the privilege of importing and exporting various goods with each other at a reduced cost, leading to an increased economic activity. This benefit is accompanied by the fact that all member countries operate under the same set of rules legislated by the organization, which prevents the risk of unwanted disputes and sanctions. By contrast, failure to trade under the framework of WTO might result in higher tariffs, an expense that can place businesses amidst financial strains. Despite this, international agreements that favour the protection of the environment should not be neglected as well.
An example of one of those co-operations is certainly the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit global warming. Nearly 200 countries develop initiatives to reduce carbon emissions by seeking ways to go green in diverse fields, ranging from manufacturing to transport, while simultaneously allocating economic resources to the nations struggling financially to combat climate change solely within their borders. The main reason why such agreements are bound to achieve success is that every nation is gathered under the same purpose, which facilitates in mitigating the common problem that every country is suffering from.
Both cases aside, I believe that questioning the main benefit of international cooperation itself is rather irrational, because they are totally different fields. Global collaborations vary, so do their purposes. Some of them are implemented to improve transportation, whereas others are with the aim of ensuring peace. Most importantly, such agreements are put into practice with a sole purpose of benefitting the humanity.
To conclude, there are two differing opinions about the benefit of international cooperation, with some saying that it is favourable for businesses, while others are of the opinion that their main goal is to protect the environment. Although both of these views hold truth to a certain extent, I think there is no point in comparing them.
