The bar chart compares the number of Australian students who studied in five different countries from 2004 to 2006.
Overall, it is clear that the number of Australian students increased in almost all countries except for Japan, where a decline was observed during the given period. In addition, while the USA and New Zealand were the most preferred countries for Australian students, the reverse was true for Germany and Japan.
Both the USA and New Zealand have experienced a growth in the number of Australian students studying there. After increasing slightly from 2500 in 2004 to 2600 in 2005, the former showed a considerable rise to 2800 at the end of the period. The latter started at 2550 initially and witnessed a gradual growth to 2650 in 2006. As for the UK, about 1500 Australian students studied there in 2004, and this number rose to 1700 before a period of stability until the end of the period.
Germany and Japan were both less preferred by Australian students. Although the figure for Germany decreased from 150 initially to 100 in the following year, the last year underwent an increase to 200. In contrast, Japan was the only country in which the number of Australian students showed a drop from 200 to 150 during the given period.
