Overall, the proportions of people in all age groups experienced an increasing trend, with people in 18-24 group hitting all-time high in 2010. Individuals in 25-34, showing almost similar percentage in the end, followed this group. Notably, people’s rates of visiting gyms once a month or more declined as they aged. It is also worth noting that all groups started the period in almost similar position.
Starting with younger age groups, those in 18-24 and 25-34 were almost identical, at about 9% and 10% respectively. Both groups expanded steadily by 1998, both reaching just under 30%. However, the former demonstrated a growing trend, at around 58% in 2006. Ultimately, the proportion of this group fell to 50% before which it recovered its state observed in 2006 by 2010. On the other hand, the latter ended up, rising gradually to 50% in 2010.
The percentages of remaining groups were similarly low at first, approximately at 4% and 5%. The line for 35-44 bracket oscillated by 2002, standing at 20%; even though the figure plateaued by 2006, it grew steeply to 40% in the end. Moreover, people in 45 and older were least used to go to gym in the timeframe. They ended up at 20% in 2010.
