Overall, the most notable fact to emerge from the chart is that, while the percentage of people visiting cafes for coffee and tea in the last 4 weeks is the highest in all cities except for Adelaide, the figure for buying fresh coffee in the last 4 weeks is the lowest in all five cities.
In terms of fresh coffee consumption, approximately 61% of Sydney residents preferred to consume fresh coffee, whereas about 63% of Melbourne inhabitants selected this type of coffee. Meanwhile, the percentage of people visiting cafes for coffee or tea in Brisbane is lower than in Hobart, at just over 55% and around 63%, respectively. Just under half of Adelaide’s citizens chose to go to a cafe for coffee and tea.
Looking at the percentages for buying instant coffee in the last 4 weeks, around 46% of Sydney residents bought instant coffee, while 48% of Melbourne people chose this type of coffee. Inhabitants of Brisbane, Adelaide, and Hobart bought instant coffee, at approximately 53%, 50%, and 54%, respectively.
When we focus on the figures for purchasing fresh coffee, the percentages in Sydney and Melbourne are similar, at around 44% and 43%, respectively. While just under 35% of residents in Brisbane and Adelaide bought fresh coffee, the percentage in Hobart is slightly higher than these cities, at approximately 37%.
