The process of producing olive oil can be outlined in seven consecutive steps. Overall, the steps can be divided into three main stages: extracting olive paste from the olives, followed by filtering and further purifying and packaging. It is also clear that the process is rather complex, which requires the use of specialized equipment in a factory.
The process begins with collecting the olives from a tree manually using a tool called a rake, after which the collected olives are stored in a huge vat for a period of two to three days. Next, the olives are washed in cool water before being crushed in a machine that uses hammers to do so. During this process, olive paste and stones are separated, with the former going through a pipe to further processing, and the latter being stored in a metal container.
Finally, the remaining steps entail mostly filtering. The olive paste goes through a hydraulic press, after which it is filtered in the same machine. Then, oil passes through another pipe connected to a centrifuge where the oil is spun so that water is removed through an outlet. Following separation, the purified oil is ready to be bottled and transported to stores by a truck.
