In 2020 all 4 countries happen to increase comparing to 1970. By 2040 all countries population in urban areas saw an upward trend.
After Malaysia’s population rose up to 45% in 1990 , the population further increased to 75% in 2020 and predicted to increase to 85% by 2040. Indonesia’s population living in cities have similarities with Malaysian. But the percentage of population started to increase from 1970 reaching to 30% by 2000. And then saw a significant growth reaching 50% by 2020, and predicted to grow even more in 2040 reaching 60%. The percentage of population in Thailand living in cities gone up to 30% in 1990. From 1990 to 2020 it fluctuated. However, it is predicted to grow up to 50 % by 2040. Despite increasing considerably from 30% to 50% in 1990, the percentage of people in Philippines dropped to 40 in 2010. Although, the forecast illustrates thet it is gonna be 50% by 2040.
