The line graph shows the amount of people living in urban areas of 4 Asian counties from 1970 to 2020, with the forecast for 2030 and 2040. In general, Malaysia seems as the most urbanized country, while Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand have a dynamic differences in population rising.
Delving into details, Malaysia has the constant growth during this given period, initially from 30% to 80% in 2025 and to around 85% in 2040. The second country by the cities population growth is Indonesia, that also has the same by its stability of upward trend: starting in 1970, this country had only 10% of its population living in cities, then in 2020 reached close to 53% and predicted to continue its trend to 60% in 2040.
However, Philippines, that had the same starting point of 30% amount in 1970, had risen its population until 1990 with the amount of 45-50% citizens, reaching its peak, that dropped to 40% in 2010 and again started to increase constantly, so its prognosed to be more than 50% citizens living in this country. Thailand, meanwhile, firstly escaladed its urban population from 19% to 29-30% in 1970 and 1990 respectively, that stayed stable until 2020, but also have a prognosed rise to 45% without any drops in 2040.
