The line graph compares the changes of food production in four different countries — France, Spain, Germany, Turkey — between 1970 and 2010. Overall, the fruit production rate increased in Turkey and France, albeit to varying degrees, while reversible patterns were observed in Spain and Germany. It is worth mentioning that the Spain remained the top fruit producer during the whole period.
Regarding upward trends, starting at 2 millions of tonnes, the fruit production of Turkey rose continually, with its figure reaching to around 3.5 million tonnes in 2010. Similarly, the amount of fruit produced by France stood at just above 1 million tonnes at the beginning, a figure that then increased marginally in 1990, reaching to just about 2 million tonnes. Although its output had declined to just under 2 million tonnes by 2000, this figure grew again, finishing at just under 3 million tonnes.
As for Spain and Germany, these countries’ fruit production rate decreased during the years. Starting at around 5,5 million tonnes, the production in Spain increased significantly, reaching all-time high of 6 million tonnes in 1980. However, a continual decline was observed in Spain, with its figure dropping to just above 5 million tonnes in 2010. When it comes to Germany, its figure had declined continually, from 2.5 million tonnes to 1.5 million tonnes by 1990. Despite remaining unchanged during the next decade, its figure dropped again to just above 1 million tonnes at the end of the period.
