The maps show changes in a city in 1950 and now.

The maps illustrate the appearance of a specific urban area in 1950 and at present. Overall, the city underwent a major extension, gaining much more space while introducing new facilities, such as a dam, a lake, an extended residential area and airport. It is also worth noting that the population of the setting increased by 1000%.
Initially, in 1950, the city had a population of 20,000 residents, so the residential area was small. There was a business district in the middle of the city, with a bridge, a government building and a river in the South. It is noteworthy that the river went along the whole urban area. In addition to all the specifics mentioned above, there was an airport in the East. Finally, the whole region was occupied by 4 main roads, which had an intersection in the business district.
Over the time, there have been several dramatic changes in the structure of the urban setting. Firstly, the lake has been introduced, to the North and South of which there are 2 business districts. Secondly, the residential area has been significantly extended in size, as well as the airport. Other alterations include the construction of another bridge and government building, the dam located in the East and more roads all over the urban area. What’s more, the current population of it makes up 200,000 individuals, a figure that is more by 10 times in comparison to the population in 1950.
