The two maps show the transformation of a natural history museum between 2010 and 2013
Overall, the museum became more diverse and visitor friendly with the introduction of a range of new facilities. It is also clear that the majority of changes took place to the right side of the museum while left side remained more or less intact.
Focusing on the 2010 plan, access was from the bottom with the ticket desk to the left. Left wing of the museum was occupied with two rooms which for the dinosaur hall, behind which was the mammals’ exhibition. while the Ocean Hall was located in the north west corner outside the museum was the garden full of trees to the left side.
Until 2013, the museum had experienced significant changes. The lobby and the Ocean Hall, which had been located in the front of the museum remained unchanged although Mammals’ exhibition next to it had made way for Ice Age exhibition and a small insects area in the south-west corner. Where the garden had stood, the mammals exhibition, a shop and a café were constructed with the the oval room displaying humans origins in the middle of them. Finally, the dinosaur Hall next to the Mammals’ exhibition had not gone through any alteration.
