The table shows changes in the proportion of usage of water in one particular country from 1988 to 2008. Overall, the percentage of residential water usage for bathroom and kitchen increased noticeably, opposed trend was observed for washing clothes, toilets and gardens. Moreover the bathroom and washing clothes stood among other categories with higher figures in each year.
Washing clothes, bathroom and kitchen exhibited consistently bigger numbers. In 1988, 22% water was used for the bathroom, slightly more than the kitchen, at 16%. After two decades, this difference reversed, with kitchen usage rising significantly to 29%, which was 2% more than the bathroom. However, washing clothes accounted for the largest share at 25% in 1988, but this followed by slight decline to 22% in 2008.
In contrast, the figures were smaller for the remaining categories. Starting at 18% in 1988, the percentage of water used for toilets dropped to 14%. Similarly, water usage for gardens observed a dramatic decrease, falling from 20% to just 7%, marking the largest reduction among all categories.
