Overall, Germany was the most popular destination for other people to emigrate, while Poland attracted the fewest number of people. Another interesting fact is that Polish people were most likely to emigrate to other countries; they were particularly keen on Germany, whereas Spanish people tended to stay in their home countries, despite Germany being their favorite destination abroad.
Looking into the details, the most visited country for emigrants was Germany, hosting nearly 1.2 million people from other nations. Italians made up the largest proportion with more than half a million people. The second most visitors to Germany were emigrants from Poland, which made up more than 426,000 people. In contrast, the lowest numbers came from Spain and Britain, which together accounted for approximately 220,000 people. Britain – the second most visited destination – welcomed an overall of 1,037,000 people; nearly the half of the guests were from Poland, accounting for 550,000 residents. The second most visitors were Germans, with nearly 300 thousand immigrants, followed by Italians and Spanish.
Spain ranked third in terms of immigrant numbers, receiving an overall of 861,000 people, with British people being at the top with slightly less that 400,000 people. Other nations constituted to more than 50 percent of overall immigrants, with Polish residents being the least.
As for two other countries – Italy and Poland – they were not as popular place to move as the other abovementioned countries, with only 196,000 and 6,000 immigrants overall respectively.
