The table compares 9 countries in terms of the number of international tourists coming to each in two years 2009 and 2010.
Overall, the number of international visitors to all countries listed increased, albeit at varying degrees, within a year, with the exception of Hong Kong whose figure declined. The most significant growth was observed for Germany, while France experienced no change in its figure, but still topped the chart.
Regarding the first four top countries on the chart, in both 2009 and 2010, the same 76 million international tourists visited France, followed by the US where 66 million foreign visitors arrived in 2009 and 67 million in 2010, representing a growth of 1.5%. Spain and the UK had the same numbers in 2009, at 55 million; however, after a year, their respective figures rose to 56 million and 57 million, increasing by 1.8% and 3.6%.
As for the remaining data, 44 million international visitors came to Italy in 2009, compared to 33 million in Turkey. By 2010, their numbers had gone up to the same 45 million. In contrast, China welcomed 22 million foreign visitors in 2009 which was twice the number in Germany, at 11 million. By 2010, both countries had experienced the most dramatic rises to 34 million (China- 55% of growth) and 23 million (Germany- 109% of growth). Hang Kong, despite the lowest number of international tourists in both years, saw a drop by 11% in its figure, decreasing from 10 million in 2009 to 9 million in 2010.
