The pie chart compares water usage for different sectors, and the bar chart shows how water was allocated to residential purposes in Australia in 2004.

It was also clear that people utilized significantly more water for bathroom and gardening with washing and toilet following closely behind, while they spend far less on kitchen.
Focusing on water consumption by sectors, it was unevenly distributed. Residential houses used more than half of water distribution at 57%, making them dominant consumers. Residential apartments consumed twice as much as government, at 13% and 6%, respectively. Almost the same amount of water was allocated for business and industry, with respectively figures of 10% and 11%. A mere 3% of water was distributed for other purposes.
Residential water usage exhibited significant variations. Bathroom and garden were primary users of residential water, with the former constituting just over 25% and the latter making up just under 25%. 20% of water was allocated for washing clothes. This was in stark contrast to kitchen purposes, which only accounted for 10%. Lastly, 15% of water was used for toilet.
