Young people learn more about good behaviour from books or films/movies than they learn from real-life experiences. To what do you agree or disagree?
Some people indeed think that many youngsters are likely to acquire knowledge about moral behaviours and traits from books and movies compared to real-life cases. In my opinion, although it can vary from person to person, most young individuals have a tendency to learn behaviours from life experiences.
On the one hand, it seems sensible for some young people to learn more about good manners by reading books and watching movies. Numerous movies are now available to teach something about behaving well, specifically for young individuals, as this quality is considered essential in their future lives when communicating with others. After watching several movies intended to make youngsters more honest and fair with others in any circumstances, young individuals become more conscious and aware of what they are doing. Regarding book sources to gain more knowledge about good manners, it is true that physicological books are the best ones to lead people to demonstrate their good habits. Atomic Habits by James Clear, for example, is a book that gives valuable information and insights about changing bad habits into good ones by doing small actions consistently. As a result, youngsters who read such books have an overall good understanding of behaving in public.
On the other hand, I am of the opinion that young generations tend to absorb knowledge about moral behaviours from real-life cases. For instance, when people witness someone doing stupid things on the streets, such as moving without clothing, they can draw a conclusion that it is an action of an idiot because there are other people laughing at those people nearby for what they are doing. After this occasion, individuals realize that behaving in this way is not something for fun and can be justified. Moreover, parents also have a significant role to play in terms of their children’s good manners. To be precise, if parents and other elderly relatives always act with intelligence when they are together with their children at a specific party, public space or government institution, they can be a great role model in many ways. In this case, since youngsters are bound to spend their time with family members, they may be easily influenced, remembering every good behaviour they see from old and experienced relatives, in my view.
To conclude, while some young people indicate a willingness towards books and films to understand moral behaviours, I consider that most youngsters are more likely to know about manners because they are opposed to being socially active than any other age group.
