The plans below show the layout of the ground floor of a museum in 1990 and in 2010. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The map illustrates how the museums ground floor layout was redesigned over a 20-year period.
Overall, there was extensive developments with regards to archeology gallery, gift shop and the entrance during these 20 years.
In 1990, the gift shop was a small room in the top left corner, but with further expansion and addition of cafe, the shape of room became irregular, which coerced to move the statue to the middle, initially located adjacent to the gift shop. Additionaly, the size of entrance was twice narrow ,compared to that of 2010, and the reception counter ,originally placed parallel to the museum office, is slightly turned to the upgraded entrance. Lift is also one of the new introductions and located between the enhanced gift shop and the natural history room.
When discussing the right flank, there was a wall between a hall and archeology and local history rooms, which was removed, making it more comfortable to enter a room. In addition, the door between local history room and archeology gallery was also diminished. Previously the large archeology gallery was requalified to the children’s interactive zone(top right corner) and poster display area(middle right flank). Remaining rooms, such as Natural history room and the museum office, and stairs was not changed.
